Not much – about 5-10% direct mathematics. You do use maths principles for other work for data analysis. Most of my work is done on a computer so you don’t have to do much maths in your head, you just need to be comfortable with numbers and explain how some values are calculated.
The most important part of my job is talking with people and making sure everything is done to a good standard. There is some maths, of course, but it’s mostly mixed with programming. Understanding the maths helps me spot when something goes wrong and figure out why it happened.
