Never! I’m always doing something new, whether that’s teaching a new class (or teaching an old class to new students), researching and learning about a new topic, or travelling to a new place to present my research and work with others. Sometimes I have to do boring things, like fill out expense reports or exam paperwork, but the job itself is never boring.
Great question. Often there are weeks where you may be doing similar things which can feel repetitive, however the unique aspect of my role is that sometimes something really random might happen that sends everyone into a panic, emergency mode and problem solving to figure it out. Other aspects you might consider boring is the documentation side, personally not a fan of it! I do enjoy unpredictability, which is why I love my role.
Great question, my job is very rarely boring, as it’s so varied that I can be doing different things from one day to the next. Occasionally it can feel repetitive or not very satisfying if I’m having to do very detailed work like checking through lots of data in spreadsheets to make sure they’re all complete and everything has been entered correctly. But this can also be very useful because I can start to see patterns in the data, notice things I wasn’t expecting, so that’s not actually boring, it’s an important part of understanding the data in detail.
