It is amazing how much you use mathematics in daily life, such as paying bills, shopping and splitting up your wages into Bills\Savings\Fun Stuff. Also things like calculating how long to microwave or air fry things, when you want to cook more or less than the instructions on the packaging, or increasing the ingredients to feed more friends. The calculations may not always be complex but Math is in everything we do.

It is used in working life too, from calculating the size of a page file (memory resources) to calculating the subnets needed (networking), you often don’t realise you are using it. There are many tools to help you, calculators, features built into spreadsheets or converters to change from inches to centimeters etc. There is something satisfying about knowing you could do it in your head if needed.

I think studying mathematics gives you some great problem solving skills. It teaches you to really dig down and define a problem properly and then work logically to get an answer.

Studying mathematics requires a lot of determination and I am often stuck for days, weeks, or even months on end. This is a great skill which is beneficial in lots of areas of life.
