Interesting question! I really love my job – perhaps the only thing I would change is the misogyny/sexism I still encounter when talking to some people about maths, where they seem to believe myths about male brains being ‘better at’ maths, which is outdated and untrue.
I wish it was easier to convince some incredibly risk-averse people of the benefits of taking action and the risks of not taking action. Managing risks is very important in many professional jobs, and very much so in civil engineering, but sometimes I feel like people’s unwillingness to accept some minimal risks gets in the way of doing important things and this makes things worse in the long run.
