Maths can be used to describe anything.
Those amazing spiral patterns in plants like in Sunflowers and Romanesco broccoli, can all be described using the Fibonacci sequence.
The reason bees build honeycomb in hexagons and their dance movements when giving directions to other bees can all be linked back to mathematics.
Maths is universal and connects everything together.
As well as liking maths I also love music – I play the piano and the cello to relax after work as well as listening to lots of different types of music. Music is closely related to maths because it often represents patterns and the different keys in music (major or minor) represent different mathematical relationships between the notes. So although we think of music as being an ‘arts’ subject and maths as ‘science’ they’re closely connected
