Some of the most important skills for maths are identifying patterns, thinking logically, and patience. I think the most important skill is the ability to sit with a problem you can’t solve and keep working at it until you find a way forwards.

One really important skill is reading comprehension — loading words from the page/computer screen to my brain. I think it’s something we take for granted, but it’s a skill we need to practice to read and write fluently. I read lots of books growing up (and still do now) and I think all that reading helps.
