      I’m very fortunate that I didn’t face any societal barriers — nobody ever told me I can’t do this/that because of my gender, race, or background. So I know I’ve had it easier than others.
      One thing that was hard for me was moving away from home; I lived in California for 2 years as it was the best place to work (at the time). I think that was most difficult for me!

      There are many barriers being a woman in mathematics, however, I joined a great community of maths researchers across the UK (The Piscopia Initiative) which helped reduce a lot of the barriers.
