MRI scanners use powerful magnets and radio waves to produce images inside the body. It is similar to x-ray and CT but it is best at showing soft tissues such as muscles, ligaments and tendons. Unlike x-ray and CT, it also doesn’t expose the person being scanned to any ionising radiation.
